Trip Wire: “A hidden trigger which sets off a string of events that are explosive .” Emotionally Unavailable Man Pulling Away
Deep within the heart of every man is an intense longing to be someone’s hero.
This longing has historical roots.
You see, the origin of this longing is written into the fabric of his DNA. And there it lies, dormant… till one day, the perfect trigger unleashes its own power.
I’d like to show you just how to turn into that trigger, and the way to wake the force your guy’s bonding instinct.
But first, a story. It’s the narrative of human relationship. Emotionally Unavailable Man Pulling Away
Before we could care deeply about somebody, we must understand something in their own life story. Because stories evoke empathy. Stories permit us to picture ourselves in someone else’s shoes. Emotionally Unavailable Man Pulling Away
Stories form the basis of all human connection. They create the sensation of a shared life experience.
It is strange, but true, we could even find ourselves rooting for criminals and thieves so long as we see their story unfold. Movies like Ocean’s Eleven along with The Italian Job illustrate that well.
In the movie, Ocean’s Eleven, actors George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon make to get a cast of likable thieves. But beyond their good looks, we get pulled into the story. We find what’s driving Danny Ocean’s motivation to rob a casino. A casino which just has been owned by his own ex-wife’s new lover.
We can empathize with the pain of Danny Ocean. And at the end of the movie, we’re really rooting for him to get away with it. To steal the money and vanish into the sunset with his own ex-wife, Tess, by his side.
Perhaps stranger is how we respond to fiction in the first place. A novelist can get me to the edge of my chair, rooting for a person who does not even exist in real life.
Literary critics might scoff, but I really liked the twilight show by Stephanie Meyer. I think my hand was really trembling from adrenaline since the Volturi started to march across the field, intent on destroying Isabella’s daughter.
But wait, that is all make-believe. How can it lead to a physical response in my own body?
The answer, of course, is the power of story.Emotionally Unavailable Man Pulling Away
Since ancient times, stories have been the primary means by which humans communicated important information. Because of that, our minds are literally wired for story.
Stories affect our emotions. They’re at the heart of communication. Letting us to truly feel connected to each other.
